That’s Not My Experience, But…

This started as a comment on a Facebook post, but really, it’s perhaps the most important thing I’ve said:

That’s not my experience, but hey, my subjective experience isn’t everyone else’s.

And that’s really the key to everything, isn’t it? Realizing that no matter how compelling your life and experiences are, that other people have had different lives and different experiences, and maybe they need and want different things than you.

This is also, for the fellow nerds out there, the beginning premise of the sociological perspective.
