A Difference

Today, we have an inauguration that is not lily white. Where the pledge is given in sign language. With a Black poet after a country music legend.

Where the new president seemed even more excited at his running mate’s swearing in than his own.

Where profiting off of lies is explicitly condemned rather than excused.

Where the only exclusion is that of bigots who put their prejudices and hatred before country.

A ceremony is not an administration.

But there is a difference on display.

And for the first time in years, this actually looks like the America we dream of being.
