Nobody is pure. Don’t expect them to be.

There is a danger in purity politics, simply that it does not provide room for people to make mistakes, own their mistakes, and try to make amends.

When all people are fallible, and especially when we accept that most people are steeped in a sexist, racist culture from birth to the point that it is invisible to most of that society, it becomes crucial to understand that understanding is often incremental and that people screw up even when they do  have full understanding.

If folks are willing to own their errors and make amends, I’m happy to have them. I may not personally like them, but I’ll have them.
