Maybe bloatware serves a purpose…

The computing power on Apollo 11 was less than that of some calculators in the 1980’s.  I remember running a mail and web server on a 286.

And yet our phones, with far more processing power and RAM, slog through the simplest tasks. Our computers seem slow and bogged down.

Sometimes that’s the GUI. Sometimes that’s bloatware.

And, simultaneously, despite our vast increase in computing power, our fears of a computer uprising have failed to come true.

What if…just what if… that is entirely the point of all the bloatware and crap that slows our computers down today?
