I'm judging that largely by Wal*Mart bothering to address those excesses at all. The attempts at greenwashing, at "giving back to the community" and the like aren't enough. Not by a long shot.

But it's a hell of a lot more than they were offering a decade ago. Such attempts at appeasement are very reminiscent of the reforms brought about by the Progressive movement around the dawn of the twencen. Marxist predictions of revolt were accurate – and the capital owners basically offered up enough incentives and appeasement to take the fight out of folks.
